“Madeira. belongs to all” and we belong to Madeira
Art Installation Intergrating Locals and Internationals — Year 2022

Madeira Friends created a work of art entitled “Madeira. Belongs to All,” reflecting their connection to Madeira.
In a record year of booming tourism for the island and following the great success of the Digital Nomads project in Madeira, which attracted diverse visitors from all over the world, the artwork was inspired by the various origins and cultural diversity of those who visited or chose Madeira as their home.

The artist, Andreína de Canha, counted on the help of the public during the event. The piece itself was interactive, with the public having the opportunity to be part of it through their figurative and abstract silhouettes placed on a nearly 4-meter-long canvas.

The art installation began at the weekly meetup of the community which took place on Wednesday, 23rd November at the Arcadas Pelourinho. In addition to art, the event also featured a DJ, a violinist and the presence of journalists.

The art piece started at the Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture and was further showcased as an exhibition in other locations to amplify the message and social impact of this initiative.

The event was free and open to everyone. Over 100 people from different locations on the island, from Ponta do Sol to Machico, came to support the special event which promotes Madeira’s multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion.

The art piece is now on display at the co-working space in Ponta do Sol
