In July 2022, Madeira Friends made their presence felt at the Summer Opening: one of the largest music events held on the island at Santa Catarina Park in Funchal.
The international community had the chance to immerse themselves in the local atmosphere and enjoy Portuguese music performed by some of the country’s most celebrated artists. Yet, the experience went beyond mere enjoyment.
Madeira Friends seized the opportunity to connect with Madeira’s local youth, highlighting how their beloved island is fast becoming a hub for digital innovation and a welcoming destination for digital nomads. They also shared insights into their social projects and ongoing initiatives aimed at giving-back to the island.
Engaging closely with the youth is a strategic step towards involving them in the exciting future of digitizing the island, ensuring they are stakeholders in its evolving landscape.
The interactions were lively and inclusive, featuring giveaways of lollipops and even some spontaneous burpees. It was a time of** mutual enjoyment**, bridging the gap between locals and internationals in a meaningful way.
